Helping Local Seniors Remain Healthy and Independent
Through our flagship meals program, Meals on Wheels Diablo Region provides weekly home-delivered frozen meals to older adults age 60 and above who are homebound and unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves, and do not have a caregiver available to assist with meal preparation.
Each delivery includes nutritionally-balanced meals and a wellness check from the volunteer or staff driver. For many seniors, this brief connection may be the only socialization they have that day, or even that week. The visit from Meals on Wheels Diablo Region offers companionship, reassurance, and peace of mind for our older neighbors and their loved ones.
Grocery Bags* are also available for adults who are homebound but still able to cook for themselves. The Café Costa program offers hot meals in a community setting for older adults who are not homebound.
*Grocery Bags are available for adults in Contra Costa County, age 55+, with an income qualifier.
Home-Delivered Meals
Serving Older Adults Across Contra Costa County
As the county's approved provider of home-delivered meals for older adults, Meals on Wheels Diablo Region follows established nutrition, food safety, and delivery standards designed to support the health and well-being of the seniors we serve.
A Weekly Safety Check
Each delivery includes a friendly visit and safety check. Drivers help monitor participants' well-being by checking in regularly and reporting any concerns to our staff, providing reassurance and peace of mind for seniors and their loved ones. Because each delivery includes fresh food and a brief wellness check, participants must be home to receive their meal.

Grocery Bags
For seniors who can still cook but can no longer shop independently, accessing healthy food can be a daily challenge. The Grocery Bag Program helps low-income, homebound older adults maintain their independence by providing nutritious groceries and fresh produce delivered directly to their homes.
Meals on Wheels Diablo Region delivers grocery bags twice each month to eligible seniors who are able to prepare simple meals but have difficulty accessing food due to transportation, mobility, or other challenges. Grocery bags include fresh produce and healthy pantry staples that help participants maintain a nutritious diet and reduce food insecurity.
This program is offered through a partnership with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, allowing us to connect more older adults with the healthy food they need to thrive at home.
The age requirement to join the Grocery Bag program is 55+ with an income qualifier.
There is no required fee for eligible participants. Voluntary contributions help us continue providing nutritious meals and vital support services to local seniors.
